What is sexual harassment at the Workplace?
Workplace sexual
harassment unwelcome sexual advances or conduct of a sexual nature which
unreasonably interferes with the performance of a person's job or creates an
intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment. Sexual harassment can
range from persistent offensive sexual jokes to inappropriate touching to
posting offensive material on a bulletin board. Sexual harassment at work is a
serious problem than other places it can be happened. (Ex- School premises,
street, social networks, etc...)
Sexual
harassment is unwelcome sexual behavior, which could be expected to make a
person feel offended, humiliated or intimidated. It can be physical, verbal or
written.
Sexual
harassment is not consensual interaction, flirtation or friendship. Sexual
harassment is not behavior that is mutually agreed upon.
“Sexual
Harassment” includes anyone or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior
(whether directly or by implication) namely,
1. Physical contact or advances
2. A demand or request for sexual favors
3. Making sexually coloured remarks
4. Showing pornography
5. Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual
nature
